The following link is to Google Earth’s Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego episode 1: The Crown Jewels Caper. In this episode of the game the player is asked to find the thief who stole the Crown Jewels. You travel around the globe asking locals clues as to if they saw the thief and a clue as to where you might need to go next. This game asks the players to have a general understanding of geography and cultural knowledge (dances, money, holidays). With younger elementary it takes about 30 minutes to go through with guidance, upper elementary (and above) can complete it on their own.
This activity would be fun to complete with your kids, especially if you remember the PC game or television show.
